On the occasion of its restoration, a portrait of one of the stars of the Louvre, the Nike of Samothrace, a marble master-piece dating back to the 2nd century BC
40,000 visitors a day. 8 million a year. The Nike of Samothrace – a true icon – has marked generations of visitors. However, despite its great fame, little is known about its history. This outstanding monument made of 30 tons of marble was given a ruthless clinical examination behind closed doors, led by a team of twelve, for nearly one year. This film follows the statue’s spectacular restoration project. A journey into the little-known history of this 2000-year-old maimed statue – it lost both head and arms – and which arrived at the Louvre in separate pieces after a long journey from the North of the Aegean Sea.
